About the role
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Medical Receptionist to join our specialist orthopaedic practice on a permanent part-time basis approx. 24 hrs/week. This role is pivotal in supporting a sole orthopaedic surgeon and will commence as a remote position for approximately 3 months, before transitioning to a face-to-face role at our Newcastle location
The Senior Medical Receptionist is responsible for frontline communication and service delivery, data input and routine administrative responsibilities - all of which underpin the consistently high standard of service delivery to our patients, doctor, stakeholders and colleagues. The medical receptionist will ensure practice policies and procedures are followed working in a collaborative and supportive manner with patients and team members upholding the practice brand philosophy, culture and values
Key duties and responsibilities
· Reception duties including answering the telephone, making appointments, greeting patients and responding to emails
· General administrative duties including letter dictation, scanning documents, mail, updating computer records and data
· Ability to work independently and contribute as part of a close-knit team
· Theatre list coordination with Private/Public hospitals
· Patient appointment coordination with hand therapists, physiotherapists etc.
· Always maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of patients and their records in accordance with privacy legislation and practice policies/procedures
· Providing support in the day-to-day operations of the practice
· Taking payments and banking reconciliation
Criteria:
· At least 2-3 years of medical receptionist experience with the proven ability of demonstrating advanced receptionist/customer service skills.
· Excellent phone, interpersonal and communication skills
· Must be organised, efficient and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise responsibilities
· Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
· Familiarity with Gentu medical software (preferred but not essential)
· Experience in Electronic Medical Records is preferred
· Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality
· Maintain a high standard of professionalism, empathy and a caring approach to patients
