Brisbane Markets Limited (BML) is the owner of the Brisbane Markets® site in Rocklea and is responsible for its ongoing management and development, supporting Queensland's horticulture industry.

BML's Operations team is responsible for maintaining site security and safety for the more than 4,500 people who attend the site each day.

The Role

Brisbane Markets Limited (BML) is seeking a permanent full-time "Market Officer" – Rotating Shifts*, with effective customer service and security skills. Mentorship from highly experienced supervisors is provided, making the role suitable for those new to the security industry or looking to expand on their existing experience.

The primary focus of the Market Officer role is to ensure a safe workplace for everyone at Brisbane Markets. The duties of a Market Officer include:

Establishing good working relationships with tenants, their employees and visitors;

Ensuring market users comply with site safety regulations;

Controlling access to the site using the Gallagher Access System;

Acting as a first responder in emergencies; and

Investigating and reporting on onsite incidents.

* This role is a full-time position offering a guaranteed minimum 40 hours per week and rotates between Afternoon, Night and Day shifts.

Essential Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role, the successful applicant will have:

Current open automatic driver's license;

Basic computer literacy, including the operation of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and iPads;

Current Queensland Security License (or willingness to obtain a license if successful); and

Participate in a Pre-employment medical inclusive of Alcohol and Other Drug Testing.

Full working rights in Australia (citizenship, permanent residency, or appropriate visa)

Physical capability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform security patrols

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

Desirable Skills and Experience

Experience with the following will be highly regarded:

Customer service and/or security roles in a busy environment;

Conflict Resolution and Crowd Control;

Electronic access control;

Emergency response.
