Head Chef – Meantime Hamilton

We’re looking for a strong, creative Head Chef to lead the kitchen at Meantime Hamilton — a fast-paced, high-performing restaurant in the heart of Beaumont Street. This is a rare opportunity to take charge of a venue with a loyal following, a clear point of difference (100% gluten-free, done exceptionally), and a team who are proud of what they plate.

About the role
You’ll be running the kitchen end to end — from managing food costs and designing seasonal menus to leading a tight, capable team. The role is hands-on and full-time, and best suited to someone who thrives under pressure, leads by example, and wants to help shape a growing brand.

Key responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day kitchen operation with calm, clear direction

Build and evolve seasonal menus that are flavour-forward, modern, and 100% gluten-free

Manage ordering, supplier relationships, and kitchen budgets

Train, roster, and mentor a small team of reliable kitchen staff

Maintain high standards in presentation, workflow, and cleanliness

Work closely with the owners and front-of-house team to deliver consistent service

What we’re looking for

Minimum 5 years’ experience as Head Chef or Senior Sous

Strong cooking ability, attention to detail, and creative drive

Proven experience managing food costs, systems, and team culture

Sound knowledge of food safety, and compliance

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and valid Food Safety Supervisor

Must have full Australian working rights (no sponsorship)
