SAFSS is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) committed to delivering high-quality, culturally safe, and trauma-informed services to Aboriginal children, young people, and families across New South Wales. As a fully accredited provider of Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) services, SAFSS offers residential care, family preservation, and NDIS supports rooted in Aboriginal values, kinship systems, and community empowerment.

We are currently expanding our leadership team and seeking a passionate, experienced, and strategic Casework Manager to lead a team of Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal Caseworkers and frontline staff. This role is central to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and long-term stability of children in care—placing culture, healing, and empowerment at the heart of every decision.

About the Role

As a Casework Manager, you will:

Supervise and mentor a team of caseworkers across multiple OOHC programs, including Individual Placement Arrangements (IPAs) and Cultural Support Services (CSS).

Oversee case planning, cultural care planning, safety planning, and compliance with the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) and Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) standards.

Ensure children’s voices, cultural identity, and permanency goals are central to all planning and practice decisions.

Monitor caseworker performance, facilitate professional development, and deliver reflective supervision.

Collaborate with DCJ, Aboriginal families, and community stakeholders to strengthen outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people.

Conduct audits, home visits, incident reviews, and maintain KPI tracking.

Contribute to strategic planning, staff rostering, recruitment, and program development.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

A degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, or a related field.

Minimum 3 years’ experience in casework or child protection, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.

Deep understanding of the child protection and OOHC system in NSW, including PSP reforms and cultural planning requirements.

Demonstrated experience working with families and communities in a culturally respectful manner.

Strong communication, team leadership, and crisis management skills.

Current Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and NSW Driver’s Licence.
