About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced, proactive, and reliable Bookkeeper to join Eye Mechanics Optometrist. This part-time position is crucial for managing our financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping across all practice locations. You will independently handle all aspects of BAS preparation, lodgment, and invoice/credit note management, requiring occasional visits to practices when needed to gather necessary documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including invoice processing, bill payments, and reconciliations.
Maintain precise and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers and bank reconciliations.
Independently prepare, lodge, and manage Business Activity Statements (BAS) and related tax documentation.
Liaise directly with suppliers, practice managers, and external stakeholders to proactively gather information required for bookkeeping.
Conduct periodic financial reporting and analyses to assist management decision-making.
Assist with payroll processing and related employee administrative tasks.
Actively engage with external accountants and auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Learn and effectively utilise our Practice Management Software (Sunix), alongside our accounting platform (Xero).
Provide monthly analytics and feedback to the practice directors.
Skills and Experience:
Minimum 3 years proven bookkeeping experience, ideally in professional services or multi-site small-to-medium enterprises
Expert proficiency in Xero is essential; familiarity with the optometry industry (e.g. Sunix or similar PMS) is advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to proactively source information, manage relationships independently, and solve problems with minimal supervision.
Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and accuracy in managing financial records.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
High level of initiative, critical thinking, and adaptability.
Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial functions
Proficient knowledge of Google Workspace apps including Google Sheets and Gmail
Experience with superannuation processing and compliance requirements
