About the Role

This is a flexible, remote role for someone confident in both people and processes. You’ll work directly with clients, keep their books in top shape, and help us improve how we do things. If you’re organised, tech-savvy, and can lead yourself without constant direction, you’ll thrive here.

This role is only open to applicants residing in Australia with permanent working rights. Sorry, no exceptions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Managing client communication and building trusted relationships
• Reviewing and coordinating bookkeeping work
• General bookkeeping (bank recs, BAS prep, payroll, etc.)
• Looking for ways to improve systems and streamline how we work
• Possibly mentoring or managing junior bookkeepers as the team grows - including involvement in performance reviews, if needed

This is not an entry-level role. We won't be hand-holding. You’ll need to be confident navigating cloud-based platforms (like Xero, Karbon, and others) and happy to problem-solve on your own before asking for help. Strong computer skills and the ability to pick up new tools quickly are essential.

What You’ll Bring

We reckon you’ll thrive if you have:

• Excellent communication skills - grammar, spelling and tone all matter in client work
• High integrity and discretion - you’ll often be trusted with sensitive information
• A proactive mindset and strong work ethic
• Minimum 5 years of Australian bookkeeping experience
• A qualification in accounting or bookkeeping

Bonus points if you:

• Have strong Xero skills
• Live in Melbourne or Brisbane (not essential, but helpful)
• Have experience in team leadership or review work (again, not essential - but useful as we grow)
