In this key role, you'll be instrumental in designing, reviewing, and implementing cutting-edge security controls across projects, initiatives, and daily operations. With deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, you will play a central role in enhancing our organisation's cloud security posture while ensuring alignment with broader architecture and infrastructure strategies.

What You'll Do

Your key responsibilities will include:

System Management & Oversight

• Microsoft Entra ID: Manage identity and access controls, MFA, SSO, and service principal integration across hybrid environments.
• Microsoft Purview: Lead implementation and support of Insider Risk Management and data governance capabilities.
• Microsoft Sentinel: Optimise and configure for centralised security monitoring; develop detection rules and automate compliance workflows.
• Cloud Security Posture: Collaborate with Cloud Operations to define and implement security standard enhancements across cloud platforms.

Consultation and Support

• Provide expert guidance to technology teams on cloud security best practices across projects.
• Assist in the development of documentation and architectural diagrams related to security tools and environments.

Research & Evaluation

• Keep up to date with developments in Microsoft's security toolsets.
• Conduct research to support continuous improvement and future technology security initiatives.

Continuous Security Improvement

• Identify opportunities for improving tools and processes.
• Support the transition of security initiatives from pilot to operational, including SOP development.

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in cloud security, particularly across Microsoft Entra ID, Defender XDR, Purview, and Sentinel.
• Strong understanding of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS security principles.
• Familiarity with identity management, threat detection, and security automation.
• Expertise in Microsoft Log Analytics for monitoring, alerting, and reporting.
• Experience working within or for a Federal Government agency.
• Knowledge of ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight practices.

Desirable

• Exposure to Cloud Security Posture Management tools such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud or Qualys CSPM.
• Previous experience in security architecture roles.

Qualifications

• A relevant industry certification in information security and/or cloud specialisation (e.g. AZ-500, CISSP, CCSP, or similar).
