The Role – Key Responsibilities
Area
Duties
Logistics & Yard Operations (≈ 50 %)
• Coordinate and monitor daily deliveries and pickups.• Liaise with drivers & transport partners for on‑time dispatch.• Prepare accurate delivery dockets and schedules.• Load and unload trucks using forklifts/overhead cranes.• Track stock movements, conduct cycle counts & stocktakes.• Maintain a clean, safe, well‑organised yard; inspect tools & equipment regularly.
Internal Sales & Customer Service (≈ 35 %)
• First point of contact for phone, email and walk‑in enquiries.• Qualify customer needs and recommend appropriate products (steel lintels, reo mesh, framing, plasterboard, etc.).• Generate quotes, process sales orders and take payment in our ERP/POS.• Welcome visitors, direct clients & new staff to the right team member.• Support the external sales team with proactive follow‑ups & upselling.
Administration & Continuous Improvement (≈ 15 %)
• Update delivery schedules, run sheets and KPI trackers.• Maintain documentation for vehicles & safety registers.• Assist with SOP creation and workflow optimisation.• Provide reception cover and general admin support as required.
Skills & Qualifications
Building‑product knowledge – min. 2 years in a trade warehouse, roof sheeting, steel or timber merchant, or construction‑supply environment.
Experience in Logistics management
Proven customer‑facing sales or counter‑sales experience.
Current LF forklift licence (or willingness to obtain) & good load‑restraint practice.
Comfortable using inventory/ERP systems and MS Office.
Strong organisation, attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
Physically fit – able to lift up to 20 kg and work outdoors in all weather.
WA C class driver’s licence and full Australian work rights.
Desirable
MR/HR truck licence.
Detailed Product Knowledge in Building Products
Experience scheduling multi‑drop deliveries.
