Classification: Local Government Industry Award 2020 – Level 3 to 5
Term: 12-month fixed-term position with the possibility of extension.
The Shire of Mt Marshall is seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as an Administration Officer for a 12-month secondment opportunity, with the potential for extension.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work, thrives in a small team environment, and is passionate about delivering high-quality service to the community.
Position Summary
The Administration Officer serves as the first point of contact for the Shire of Mt Marshall, providing high-quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
This role supports a wide range of administrative functions including front desk reception, public library operations, accommodation bookings and maintenance coordination, and general clerical support across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
Greet and assist visitors and callers in a friendly, professional manner.
Manage accommodation bookings and coordinate cleaning and maintenance as needed.
Administrative Support
Process incoming and outgoing mail.
Handle Department of Transport licensing transactions.
Manage daily banking and accounts receivable tasks.
Maintain records for animal registrations and liaise with ranger services.
Coordinate cemetery documentation and site works with relevant staff.
Operate the Bencubbin public library, including circulation, stock management, and reporting.
Support property maintenance requests, tenant lease arrangements, and inspections.
Maintain the order and presentation of the Administration Centre.
Provide general clerical support and assist other staff as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong commitment to customer service and professional communication.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general office equipment.
Good organisational, time management, and cash handling skills.
Ability to work cooperatively in a small team environment.
Experience in reception or administrative roles is highly regarded.
