About This Opportunity

As a Student Experience Officer (Transition), assist with the development, coordination, and delivery of a suite of programs designed to facilitate students' successful transition to the University. Working as part of the Student Enrichment and Success team, this position delivers student-facing initiatives that support activities related to student commencement, orientation, transition, and wellbeing. The role collaborates with stakeholders across the St Lucia, Gatton, Dutton Park, and Herston campuses.

Key responsibilities will include:

Program Delivery for Diverse Students

  • Deliver a range of student-facing orientation and transition programs and initiatives at UQ, with a focus on students from underrepresented groups.

Volunteer & Staff Development

  • Support and develop student volunteers and casual staff involved in program delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including on-campus accommodation providers, colleges, and halls of residence, to enhance the student experience at UQ.

Reporting & Evaluation Support

  • Under guidance, report on program outcomes and contribute to program impact evaluations.

Please note the duties will involve;

  • Occasional out-of-hours work (evening and weekends)
  • Occasional travel to other campuses (including Gatton) for delivery of programs and activations.
  • Leave blackout around orientation periods.

About You
  • Relevant degree or qualifications with work-related experience. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement proactive programs in response to student needs.
  • Enthusiasm to engage effectively with and support young people and those from diverse cultural backgrounds. Proven ability and willingness to participate and support others as part of a dynamic, high-functioning team.
  • Demonstrated planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to set work priorities appropriate to meeting deadlines and commitments, with proven personal organisational skills and the capacity to work independently.
  • High level of computer literacy, with knowledge of Microsoft Office and an understanding of website content management.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating programs or events.
  • Possession of a valid open driver's license with a clean driving record.

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
