About This Opportunity

As the Orientation and Transition Program Coordinator, you'll lead the design and implementation of comprehensive programs that ensure students successfully transition to university life and thrive academically. This involves coordinating engaging orientation events, developing impactful transition initiatives, and collaborating on wellbeing programs that help students adjust. With a strong emphasis on supporting underrepresented groups and fostering an inclusive environment, this role plays a vital part in advancing the University's strategic priorities, including The Queensland Commitment and our Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan, through meaningful partnerships across the UQ community.

Key responsibilities will include:

Lead Program Design & Evaluation

  • Design, develop, coordinate, and evaluate comprehensive student-facing orientation and transition initiatives across the University.

Manage Program Resources

  • Recruit, train, support, and nurture student volunteers and casual staff to enhance program delivery, while also coordinating program budgets and monitoring expenditure.

Drive Strategic Collaboration

  • Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to enhance student engagement opportunities.

Report & Analyse Performance

  • Provide detailed reports and analysis on program performance, including tracking changes in scope, timeframes, and costs.

Please note the position involves;

  • regular travel to other UQ campuses, especially during the orientation period. (good physical health, mobility and some lifting work is required)
  • some out-of-office hours work.
  • leave blackout during orientation periods.
About You
  • Completion of a degree/qualifications with experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and coordinating projects to enhance the student experience in higher education, with a focus on underrepresented groups.
  • Ability to develop and implement programs in partnership with students and in response to their needs, alongside experience working collaboratively with a diverse range of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, particularly students, senior staff, and industry partners.
  • Demonstrated planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, encompassing the ability to analyse data, write succinct reports, and accurately integrate information from various sources.
  • Possession of a valid open driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Blue Card: Holder of a current Queensland Government Blue Card or the ability to attain one.

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
