About the Role
Are you passionate about working alongside Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities and making a genuine impact on the lives of unpaid Carers?
Carers SA is seeking a skilled and empathetic Carer Support Planner – CALD Consortia Support to play a pivotal role in connecting Carers to the services they need. You’ll be responsible for conducting strength-based assessments, coordinating services, and supporting Consortia partners to deliver high-quality outcomes. Your role will help ensure that Carers receive timely, culturally safe, and effective support.
Working closely with Carers SA’s CALD Consortia partners, you will guide and mentor staff, manage documentation in CRM systems, and conduct outreach at community sites such as the Australian Refugee Association (ARA). This role offers a meaningful opportunity to advocate for vulnerable individuals while driving systemic quality improvements.
Key responsibilities (not limited to):
Conduct Carer intake, registration, assessment, and reviews using strength-based and person-centred tools (e.g., Carer Star™)
Provide appropriate support and referrals to internal and external services
Mentor and support CALD Consortia staff with intake, assessment, and tailored support requests
Manage Carer information in Lumary (our CRM) and resolve Dex errors
Coordinate outreach activities at ARA or other CALD-focused organisations (including use of interpreters)
Communicate regularly with Consortia partners to ensure consistency, quality, and timely reporting
Support triage and respond to enquiries via phone, email, and web chat
Contribute to a child-safe, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practice environment
About You
You’re a culturally aware and values-driven professional who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic setting. You enjoy mentoring others and are passionate about achieving positive outcomes for unpaid Carers, particularly those from CALD backgrounds.
To be successful, you’ll have:
Strong cultural awareness and demonstrated experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, including ability to work effectively with interpreters
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Proficiency in CRM systems and data management (Lumary preferred)
Strong organisational and time management skills
Experience working in the community services sector or a telephone-based support role
Ability to work flexibly, as part of an extended hours roster
Skills that will be highly regarded:
Knowledge of services and supports available in the SA community sector
Experience working with Carers or in advocacy-based roles
Understanding of strength-based and person-centred frameworks
You will also need:
A tertiary qualification in Social or Community Services (Cert IV or higher), or equivalent experience
Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check
Current or willingness to complete Child Safe Environments training
