About Carers SA

Carers SA is the premier provider of Carer services in South Australia, delivering the federally funded Carer Gateway service across both metropolitan and regional service areas.

We have a strong history of empowering unpaid Carers through providing quality services and programs to support their needs and the needs of the people they care for. We are committed to the safety and well-being of children and young people and, as such, are committed to creating and maintaining a child safe organisation. We are a values-based organisation that prides itself on quality, professionalism and valuing your personal contribution.

About the Role

Are you passionate about working alongside Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities and making a genuine impact on the lives of unpaid Carers?

Carers SA is seeking a skilled and empathetic Carer Support Planner – CALD Consortia Support to play a pivotal role in connecting Carers to the services they need. You’ll be responsible for conducting strength-based assessments, coordinating services, and supporting Consortia partners to deliver high-quality outcomes. Your role will help ensure that Carers receive timely, culturally safe, and effective support.

Working closely with Carers SA’s CALD Consortia partners, you will guide and mentor staff, manage documentation in CRM systems, and conduct outreach at community sites such as the Australian Refugee Association (ARA). This role offers a meaningful opportunity to advocate for vulnerable individuals while driving systemic quality improvements.

Key responsibilities (not limited to):

Conduct Carer intake, registration, assessment, and reviews using strength-based and person-centred tools (e.g., Carer Star™)

Provide appropriate support and referrals to internal and external services

Mentor and support CALD Consortia staff with intake, assessment, and tailored support requests

Manage Carer information in Lumary (our CRM) and resolve Dex errors

Coordinate outreach activities at ARA or other CALD-focused organisations (including use of interpreters)

Communicate regularly with Consortia partners to ensure consistency, quality, and timely reporting

Support triage and respond to enquiries via phone, email, and web chat

Contribute to a child-safe, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practice environment

About You

You’re a culturally aware and values-driven professional who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic setting. You enjoy mentoring others and are passionate about achieving positive outcomes for unpaid Carers, particularly those from CALD backgrounds.

To be successful, you’ll have:

Strong cultural awareness and demonstrated experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, including ability to work effectively with interpreters

Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Proficiency in CRM systems and data management (Lumary preferred)

Strong organisational and time management skills

Experience working in the community services sector or a telephone-based support role

Ability to work flexibly, as part of an extended hours roster

Skills that will be highly regarded:

Knowledge of services and supports available in the SA community sector

Experience working with Carers or in advocacy-based roles

Understanding of strength-based and person-centred frameworks

You will also need:

A tertiary qualification in Social or Community Services (Cert IV or higher), or equivalent experience

Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check

Current or willingness to complete Child Safe Environments training

Why Join Carers SA?

At Carers SA, we value your expertise, initiative, and impact. You’ll be supported by a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture with benefits including:

Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free

Flexi Time entitlements

Employee Assistance Program and wellbeing initiatives

Professional development and reflective supervision

Opportunities to engage with CALD communities in a meaningful way
