About the Role

This is a dynamic leadership opportunity responsible for guiding and supporting a team of Young Carer Connectors across SA. The Team Leader – Young Carer Services plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, strengths-based support to Young Carers aged 5–25, ensuring streamlined access to services and fostering resilience, connection, and wellbeing.

You will lead with emotional intelligence and trauma-informed practice, supporting the team to achieve KPIs, uphold service excellence, and champion continuous improvement. Reporting to the Program Manager – Carer Services, you’ll actively engage with schools, service providers, and community groups to raise awareness and improve outcomes for Young Carers.

Key responsibilities (not limited to):

Lead and support the Young Carer Services team to deliver impactful, culturally safe services

Provide mentoring, supervision, performance management and reflective practice

Oversee program delivery, case quality, risk management, and incident reporting

Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders

Drive quality improvement and contribute to Carers SA strategic initiatives

Promote and grow the Young Carer Collective and broader engagement strategies

Uphold child-safe, trauma-informed, and person-centred approaches in all areas

About You

You're a confident and compassionate leader with a background in youth or community services. You inspire innovation, uphold high standards, and model reflective, values-aligned practice. You enjoy building strong connections and empowering others to thrive.

To succeed, you'll have:

At least 2 years of leadership experience in youth or community services

Proven understanding of child protection, developmental trauma, and youth engagement

Excellent communication and team leadership skills

Strong organisational, data reporting and IT proficiency

The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Highly regarded:

Experience working with or advocating for Young Carers

Knowledge of relevant supports and challenges facing Young Carers

Successful candidates will also need:

A current Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and a SA Driver’s Licence

Be prepared to undertake Child Safe Environments – Through Their Eyes training (costs covered by Carers SA)

Current First Aid Certificate or be willing to complete the course
