College of Medicine and Public Health

National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA)

The National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA), is an internationally recognised Research Centre that works as a catalyst for change in the alcohol and other drugs field. A collaborative venture between Flinders University and the Australian Government Department of Health, NCETA is located within the College of Medicine and Public Health and is part of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) at Flinders University in South Australia. NCETA is a key national research centre in the alcohol and other drug fields.

About the Role

Under general supervision, the Research Assistant will provide support to the Research team and Director across a variety of research activities and projects at the National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA). This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in the alcohol and other drugs field, supporting NCETA's mission to reduce related harms through research, prevention, treatment, and workforce development.

Key responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, assisting with the preparation of ethics applications and research materials, collecting and analysing data, liaising with research participants, contributing to grant applications, and supporting the development of research outputs such as reports, publications, and presentations. The Research Assistant will also help share research findings through NCETA's communication platforms, including its website, newsletters, and social media.

About You

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Well-developed writing and communication skills, particularly related to assisting in scientific manuscript preparation, industry reports, grant writing, or research dissemination (e.g. via newsletters, websites, social media).
  • Interpersonal skills including the ability to work in a team environment demonstrating clear communication and mutual respect.
  • Experience working on research projects in public health.
  • Completion of a degree in psychology, medicine, public health, health science or related behavioural science (desirable).
  • Proficiency in NVivo or another qualitative data analysis program (desirable).
