National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA)

The National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA), is an internationally recognised Research Centre that works as a catalyst for change in the alcohol and other drugs field. A collaborative venture between Flinders University and the Australian Government Department of Health, NCETA is located within the College of Medicine and Public Health and is part of the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) at Flinders University in South Australia. NCETA is a key national research centre in the alcohol and other drug fields.

College of Medicine and Public Health

At the College of Medicine and Public Health, we deliver clinical, population and lab-based research, integrated teaching programs and high-quality clinical services. Our footprint reaches out from our world class teaching hospital at the Flinders Medical Centre in South Australia to multiple rural clinical locations all the way to Darwin in the Northern Territory. About the Role

As a Research Fellow at the National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction (NCETA), you will play a key role in driving impactful research, evaluation, consultancy, and education initiatives under the guidance of the Centre Director. This position involves leading and managing a range of NCETA's projects, overseeing data collections and datasets, and providing expert methodological support across multiple programs of work.

You will be responsible for designing and conducting surveys, leading systematic reviews, and producing high-quality research proposals, reports, and peer-reviewed publications. The role also includes contributing to the development of grant applications and tenders for external funding. In addition, you may supervise honours, graduate, and postgraduate research students and deliver guest lectures as part of your academic contributions.

About You

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Research experience in terms of publications in high quality publications, attraction of external competitive grants and presentations at a national and/or international level in Public Health or Behavioural Science.
  • An understanding of statistical methods and knowledge of SPSS or an equivalent package to undertake statistical analyses.
  • Scientific writing skills that demonstrate attention to detail to ensure accurate recording of research methods, summary of findings, referencing and formatting.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, oral and written skills in an academic environment and experience in collaborating and engaging with diverse stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Understanding and experience conducting research in the alcohol and other drugs field (desirable).
