About the Role
The Research Fellow will contribute to advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Public Health research under the strategic guidance of the Project Investigators. Working collaboratively within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Public Health Research Team, the role will support a range of activities including project management, stakeholder engagement, data collection and analysis, and the development of written outputs for both community organisations and peer-reviewed journals.

The Research Fellow will play a key role in reporting on current and emerging research within the Team, producing culturally appropriate publications and delivering presentations at relevant conferences and forums. In addition, the role will support meaningful community engagement, foster strong stakeholder relationships, contribute to the preparation of competitive research funding applications, and promote culturally safe practices within the discipline and broader research teams.

About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • A completed PhD or equivalent experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, health research, and/or community development.
  • Proven research track record, including the production of written outputs for community audiences, organisations, policy-makers, and academic journals; experience in developing and submitting research grants; and delivering presentations at national and/or international forums in Indigenous health.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Indigenous knowledges, as well as experience with Indigenous, qualitative, and/or quantitative research methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate and engage effectively with Elders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in research settings, including establishing and maintaining productive relationships with academic staff, community organisations, and research partners.
