Howden Saggers Lawyer is a specialist criminal law firm, established over 23 years ago. We have offices in Southport, Beenleigh and Ipswich and are currently seeking applications for a reliable, motivated and career focused full time Secretary/Receptionist to join our Ipswich office.
While not mandatory, our ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
Prior criminal law experience, or legal secretarial experience;
A basic knowledge of the Queensland Court system;
A working knowledge of Legal Aid Queensland systems and procedures (or the ability to quickly acquire that knowledge);
A passion for client service with a confident and friendly phone manner;
Will enjoy working in a close-knit team in a fast-paced environment;
Be able to work without supervision;
Have excellent attention to detail;
Typing proficiency;
Confidence dealing with stakeholders including clients, their families, Senior and Junior Counsel, town agents, Police Prosecutors, other legal professionals and the like;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Familiarity with legal system and procedure; and
Be able to commence with us as soon as possible.
Our office is currently undergoing a growth and development phase and, as such, we are looking for someone equally motivated who is looking to make a career in criminal law support and is willing to make this role their own and grow with us.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Supporting one or two Solicitors;
Diary and file management;
Producing correspondence;
Acting as the “face” of our Ipswich office at our reception;
Lodging funding applications and submitting invoices with Legal Aid Queensland in line with their guidelines;
Developing and maintaining a strong professional working relationship with our clients;
General admin including data entry and document creation via Word.
This role is full time and unfortunately, candidates with part-time availability will not be considered. Further, recent legal graduates and qualified/admitted lawyers will not be considered for this role as we are looking for a long-term administrator.
