About the role
Gerard's in Fortitude Valley, QLD is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team. This is a full-time opportunity to be part of an award-winning restaurant that is passionate about serving delicious, high-quality cuisine in a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
What you'll be doing
Preparing a diverse range of dishes to our high standards using fresh, seasonal ingredients with wood-fired and charcoal grilling
Collaborating with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and refine existing recipes
Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment
Mentoring and training junior kitchen staff
Ensuring all food safety and hygiene standards are upheld
Contributing to a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture
What we're looking for
Minimum 2 years' experience as a Chef in a similar high-quality restaurant environment
Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced kitchen
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to food safety
Creative flair and enthusiasm for developing new dishes
Grill experience is essential and experience cooking wood-fired would be a bonus
Qualifications in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
