The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city’s public transport network.
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing, from data entry and compliance checks to reporting and employee support.
This role requires a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail as it involves handling sensitive employee information and ensuring compliance with all payroll regulations. You will oversee the end-to-end payroll cycle, including calculating salaries, taxes, and deductions, as well as processing additional penalties and allowances in accordance with relevant Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
In addition, the Payroll Coordinator will maintain accurate payroll records, reconcile payroll data, and conduct regular audits to prevent errors. You’ll also be responsible for generating custom payroll reports for internal stakeholders and providing payroll data for audits and compliance reporting.
The role and team act as the first point of contact for employees with payroll inquiries, addressing questions regarding deductions, tax withholdings, and pay discrepancies. This role is pivotal in fostering employee trust, as you’ll provide timely and accurate support, ensuring that every employee feels valued and that their pay is handled with the utmost professionalism.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in a high functioning payroll team, have high attention to detail, strong analytical skills, love a challenge and thrive under pressure.
Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check prior to employment with the Department which must be renewed every 3 years.
Some out of hours and weekend work may be required.
