Senior Manager, Controls Assurance - Leading Global FinTech

JS Careers have been engaged by a leading global fintech to source a Senior Manager in their second line Controls Assurance function. Reporting to the Head of Risk, we’re seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager, Controls Assurance to lead and continuously improve the internal control framework across their Australian operations.. This role is critical in ensuring the control environment supports regulatory compliance (e.g., APRA, ASIC), financial integrity, and technology resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end Controls Assurance program across financial, operational, and technology domains.
Oversee the design, implementation, and testing of controls supporting regulatory compliance (e.g. CPS 234, CPS 230, SOC 2, ISO 27001).

Perform detailed control testing and assurance reviews, identifying weaknesses and working with stakeholders to implement sustainable solutions.

Provide control assurance over third-party software vendors and cloud service providers (including APRA-regulated outsourcing arrangements).

Support the annual SOC 1/SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certification processes and coordinate with external auditors.

Partner with finance to ensure appropriate financial and reporting controls are in place.

Present key control findings, risk insights, and assurance outcomes to executive management and, where appropriate, board-level committees.

Suitable candidates will possess:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Technology, or related field.

Relevant professional certification required (e.g., CA/CPA, CISA, CIA, CRISC, or equivalent).

8+ years of experience in internal controls, audit, or risk assurance—ideally within a tech-enabled or financial services environment.

Strong understanding of APRA prudential standards, ASIC obligations, and control frameworks like SOC 2, COBIT, COSO, and ISO 27001.

Strong technical and business acumen with the ability to translate risk concepts into practical guidance for non-risk stakeholders.

Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
