We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Manager to play a pivotal role in strengthening risk management practices across Financial Crime function. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact initiatives, drive meaningful risk reduction, and support the delivery of exceptional products and services in a complex, fast-paced environment.
About the Role:
Location: Preferably Sydney but also open to Brisbane & Melbourne.
As a senior member of the team, you will provide strategic and operational risk advice, guiding the business in simplifying processes, identifying and addressing control weaknesses, and embedding risk management frameworks across all levels. You'll use your expertise to support the implementation of financial crime control uplift programs and ensure compliance with AML / Anti Money Laundering standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver practical and forward-looking risk insights to support business decision-making.
- Drive risk reduction by identifying and addressing control gaps, particularly in Financial Crime
- Lead a team of direct reports
- Lead the implementation and ongoing management of risk frameworks, policies, and risk-in-change assessments.
- Oversee risk reporting and governance activities across key risk forums and committees.
- Design and monitor key risk indicators and ensure risk exposures remain within appetite.
- Provide training and coaching to the business on risk practices and frameworks.
- Champion a proactive risk culture, collaborating across all lines of defence to deliver best practice outcomes.
- Mentor team members to build capability and ensure high-quality risk deliverables.
- Apply deep knowledge in financial crime risk and operations to ensure effective controls and compliance.
About You:
You'll be an accomplished risk professional with experience in financial crime risk management and a passion for improving control environments. Your strong communication and analytical skills will support your ability to influence stakeholders and drive outcomes.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM, CPA) are highly regarded.
- Extensive experience in risk management, including leadership roles.
- Demonstrated ability to implement risk frameworks and deliver uplift programs.
- Strong understanding of Financial Crime Operations and related regulatory standards.
- Proven skills in root cause analysis, control assessment, and process simplification.
- Effective stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
- High attention to detail, with strong reasoning and problem-solving ability.
- Commitment to building a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
