About the role
The City of Sydney is looking for a proactive and strategic Business Development Manager to join our Venue Management team. This team is dedicated to delivering commercially-minded and community-focused events across Sydney’s iconic venues, including Sydney Town Hall, Paddington Town Hall, and Barnet Long Room.
As the Business Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in generating new business leads and developing market intelligence to capitalise on opportunities for the City. Your primary responsibility will be to achieve sales volume while building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and pursue new business opportunities to enhance venue utilisation.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
Analyse market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
To be successful, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Events, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in Sales, Events, or Marketing within the Hospitality or Venue sectors.
Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting and forecasting.
Proven track record of delivering results with a focus on sales volume and revenue growth.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
