About the Role

Roads 2000 Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Estimating team, reporting to the Co-General Manager, with proven experience in this position. This fixed-term 6-month position will require the successful candidate to be located at our centrally located Osborne Park office and is required to complete the estimating requirements for asphalt, kerbing and civil works projects, ensuring profitability.

It is expected that the successful candidate will work proactively in a team environment to meet strategic targets, through an estimating programme which recognises the operational requirements of the companies.

Knowledge/Experience

Field experience in asphalt installation and civil construction

Competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project and MYOB

Strong practical understanding of Estimating principles and ability to make and support decisions that get estimating right in the context of the group objectives

Strong organisational and time management skills

Ability to understand all phases of the Estimating process and the requirements of all stakeholders

Experience in a similar estimating role

Effective and pro-active team player

Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with customer focus

Well-developed commercial and financial acumen

Strong understanding of margin and revenue

Tasks

Prepare quotation and tender estimates with the proper level of detail for all stages of work

Maintain the estimating cost database to ensure costs are up to date

Prepare quantity take-offs and estimate cost of materials, labour and equipment required to fulfil all provisions of the contract

Consult with clients, subcontractors and material suppliers to formulate commercially viable estimates

Work with operations staff to review plans and specifications for methodology issues

Research construction documents and analyse specifications to determine estimated costs

Review subcontractor and supplier bids for conformity to contract requirements and determine acceptable bids

Apply mark-up to estimates in alignment with Politis Group pricing strategy

Present quotation to client

Follow up quotations with clients

Obtain formal acceptance of quotes

Notify divisions of accepted quotes and tenders

Present and explain successful quotes and tenders to operations teams through the handover process

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering

Valid Driver's licence

White card
