Northsides largest orthopaedic practice is looking for an exceptional medical secretary to join our incredible team.
Located in Chermside, our practice has been established for over 20 years and is comprised of 10 orthopaedic surgeons, a team of hand therapists, physiotherapists, clinical nurses and a podiatrist.
We are a bustling and energetic practice that prides itself on customer experience and service and are looking to add a new member to our current team.
Medical specialist experience is preferred, however, we understand that personality and ability are key to success in the current role. So, if you like fast pace, multitasking, energetic and challenging roles than we are committed to providing the medical training on the job.
The position is working closely with a number of our surgeon. The successful applicant will be a quick thinker with the ability to complete tasks at an accurate but fast pace whist maintaining control of the clinics and delivering an excellent patient experience from start to end.
The role requires constant contact and professional communication with patients, hospitals, medical professionals and ancillary services. The applicant will have the ability to priortise and triage requests to ensure all tasks and enquiries are met and responded in a timely manner with an acceptable response.
The applicant will be required to work autonomously at times but will also be part of a large team of staff within the practice. The applicant will be required to have ownership of the role but may also be required to assist other staff and clinics when needed.
Clear and effective communication is a must as patients and other health services will look to you regarding clear directive in response to clinics, queries and overall information.
Orthopaedic training can be provided, however, having a experienced understanding of computer programs such as word, excel, outlook is essential. An understanding of the Medicare and Health fund system is also preferred as the position will require quoting surgery and booking operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing exceptional and professional service to patient and all medical / health providers
Surgical bookings and theatre lists, liaising with hospitals and surgical representatives to book the appropriate equipment
Managing day to day clinics, booking patients appropriately, arriving patients, ensuring all relevant information is available for the appointment, billing patients and providing medical certificates
Communication to patients via email and other health and medical providers in a timely and professional manner
Managing and triaging referrals
Quoting and providing theatre paperwork
Answering phones and assisting other staff with clinics when available
Key skills and attributes:
Ability to multitask and enjoy working in fast pace environment
Strong organisation and time management skills
Professional and outstanding communication and customer service skills
Proven computer skills, understanding of Microsoft products
Experience with Medical software preferable but not essential as training provided but an advanced understanding of computer systems would be desirable
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
