The Aspley Australian Football and Sporting Club has been a proud part of the local community since 1964. From humble beginnings as a junior footy club, we’ve grown into a vibrant hub that includes a large bistro, sports bars, café, function spaces, TAB & Keno, 145 gaming machines, and more. We're a destination for locals to gather, celebrate and enjoy quality hospitality.
About the Role
We’re seeking a Functions Manager who will take ownership of all Club events and functions, from first enquiry through to delivery. This role is hands-on, requiring flexibility to work evenings and weekends during functions and major events. You'll be leading the coordination, planning, and successful execution of weddings, corporate events, community celebrations and Club-hosted functions.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all incoming enquiries, quotes, viewings, and bookings
Coordinate and deliver Club-hosted events from start to finish
Provide leadership during event delivery, ensuring seamless food and beverage service
Build strong client relationships and deliver outstanding customer service
Drive sales and marketing initiatives to grow function bookings
Prepare and manage contracts, reports and function admin
Liaise with key departments including Catering, Bar, and Cellar teams
Manage function feedback and post-event reporting
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role within hospitality or events
Demonstrated success converting enquiries into bookings
Strong understanding of function/event setup, styling and service standards
Excellent communication, administration and time management skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and function management systems
Qualifications & Compliance
RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) – Mandatory
Senior Secondary Certificate (minimum)
Tertiary qualifications in Events or Hospitality (desirable)
Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
