Council is seeking a visionary Infrastructure Asset Management Leader to lead a passionate team and drive the strategic management of over $2 billion in critical infrastructure assets across our region.

In this influential position, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for managing and planning Council’s extensive infrastructure assets. From roads and stormwater systems to public facilities and buildings, you will be at the centre of ensuring our community’s assets are maintained, renewed, and future ready.

You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing asset management plans while also maintaining accurate asset registers and conducting modelling, analysis, and asset revaluations. With a sharp eye on the future, you will assess infrastructure renewal funding requirements and develop budgets and capital works programs that keep essential services running smoothly for generations to come.

Key focus areas of the role include:

Provide leadership and guidance to ensure the team performs at a high level and achieves organisational objectives and targets.

Contribute to the development and implementation of the Asset Management Framework.

Develop and review long-term asset management category plans based on whole of life asset management principles and identify future infrastructure funding requirements and gaps.

Ensure effective asset management including asset modelling, analysis and asset valuations.

Manage asset registers including coordinating inventories, condition ratings, works-as-executed asset data, asset values, and useful lives.

Identify asset improvement actions and guide the implementation of the asset improvement plan.

Consult and engage with external stakeholders, including residents, community representatives, businesses and Government departments to ensure outcomes are aligned to agreed levels of service.

LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU

You ‘bring significant experience in infrastructure asset management and planning. You are a proven leader with a strong track record in motivating high-performing teams and delivering complex infrastructure programs on time and within budget. Your strengths include developing asset management plans, applying whole-of-life asset strategies, and driving process improvements with measurable outcomes. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you are confident presenting to stakeholders at all levels and skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution. Experience in community engagement, a solid understanding of risk management, and a background in local government or a similar public environment will set you apart.

You will bring:

Degree qualification in Civil engineering, project management or related a field, and demonstrated experience in managing infrastructure assets.

Demonstrated experience in preparing and implementing asset management plans.

Extensive experience in, and proven ability to lead highly effective teams, including motivating, coaching and mentoring a diverse range of staff.

Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present to a range of stakeholders (e.g. briefings to elected officials, media interviews and conferences).

Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate and resolve conflict with a wide range of stakeholders.

Recorded achievements managing infrastructure programs and projects to deliver quality results in a timely and financially sound manner.

Demonstrated understanding of asset management and whole of life cost approach to managing assets.

Competitive salary from $127,635 to $148,333 a year plus 12 per cent industry leading superannuation

Commencing salary set in line with skills and experience with reviews available to support movement through the salary range

35-hour week with flexible working hours and nine-day fortnight

This position may be eligible for the Civil Liability Allowance, which provides an additional 3% on top of the base salary.
