About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic Manager, Assets to lead and inspire a high-performing team across four core functions: Asset Integration, Infrastructure Strategy and Planning, Asset Engineering, and Asset Management Engineering.

Reporting to the Deputy CEO and Director, Advocacy and Strategy, you'll oversee the full asset lifecycle, driving consistency, efficiency, and innovation across Council operations. In this pivotal role, you'll manage day-to-day departmental operations, including staff, systems, budgets, and assets-ensuring excellence in delivery and alignment with our long-term strategic goals.

You will also play a key role in shaping the future of Ryde by:

  • Leading the development and implementation of a strategic Business Plan aligned with Council's Community Strategic Plan
  • Championing a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture
  • Delivering impactful outcomes in infrastructure planning, asset integration, and engineering

About You

You are an inspiring and results-driven leader with a passion about building high-performing teams and achieving strategic goals. Your exceptional leadership skills enable you to mentor, develop, and empower your team to reach its full potential while fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.

With proven experience in leading and managing a skilled and progressive team, you excel in delegation, motivation, and clear communication, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and success. Your expertise in managing assets, combined with your strategic vision and ability to deliver outcomes, positions you as a key driver of departmental success.

You thrive on innovation and excellence, leveraging your strengths to create meaningful impacts for the community and contribute to shaping the future of local government planning and development.

In addition, you will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business, or equivalent industry experience
  • 10+ years of management in Local Government, the public sector, or a large organisation. Overseeing teams and resources in assets or related fields
  • Experience in leading teams through organisational, technological, or cultural change, particularly in regulated environments with reputational impacts.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, financial planning and forecasting for projects and operational needs.

  • Knowledge of the regulatory, social, political landscape which Local Government functions.

Your commencing salary from $196,323.55 - $218,137.28 + Superannuation + leaseback (subject to your experience and qualifications).
