Job Overview
Mighty Roar Services Pty Ltd, established in December 2023, will be opening a brand-new Indian restaurant, Chai Chaat Cafe, in Kewdale, WA, in July 2025. The company is focused on delivering high-quality, authentic Indian street food, a range of meals, snacks, and beverages in a modern, customer-friendly setting. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Full-Time Chef to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new venture from the ground up, play a key role in setting up the kitchen, and help establish Chai Chaat Cafe as a popular destination for Indian cuisine in the area.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, organise, and supervise the preparation and cooking of meals across all services (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), maintaining consistency and high standards of quality.
Prepare and execute dishes from a diverse Indian menu, ensuring authentic flavours, high quality, and consistency across all meal services.
Manage day-to-day kitchen operations, including preparation for service, pass management during peak hours, and cleaning down after service.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock management and minimising food wastage.
Ensure all food served meets the restaurant’s standards for flavour, presentation, and portion control.
Train, mentor, and supervise junior kitchen staff to maintain a cohesive, efficient, and skilled team.
Support the Head Chef with staff rosters, recruitment, and performance evaluations.
Assist in the planning and development of seasonal menu items using fresh, local ingredients and staying current with food trends.
Implement and oversee food safety and hygiene procedures in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Qualification and Experience
Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or a relevant qualification in commercial cookery.
Minimum of one year of full-time professional experience as a Chef specialising in Indian cuisine.
Strong knowledge of Indian culinary techniques, spice usage, and traditional preparation methods.
Demonstrated experience in managing kitchen operations and working under pressure in a fast-paced service environment.
Proven ability to lead and train a team, ensuring consistent performance and quality.
High level of attention to detail, especially in food presentation and quality control.
Sound communication skills, both written and verbal.
Understanding of food cost control, stock management, and workplace health and safety protocols.
