Join our Team as a Plant Operator!
Status: Permanent Full Time
Remuneration: Grade 7 which is currently $74.139K per annum ($37.519 per hour)
Are you an experienced Plant Operator looking for your next challenge? Council is seeking a reliable and skilled individual to join our Infrastructure & Operations team. In this hands-on role, you’ll play a vital part in delivering quality construction and maintenance services across township and rural roads. We’re looking for someone who not only knows their way around plant and equipment but takes pride in their workmanship and safety.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven ability to safely and competently operate a wide range of plant and equipment including loaders, trucks, water carts, and rollers
Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence and Loader Ticket are required
Demonstrated civil construction and maintenance skills are a must
Certification in Work Zone Traffic Management and a White Card
Ability to work independently and within a team, communicate effectively, and manage time well
Highly Desirable:
Grader operation experience
Certificate III in Civil Construction
Key Responsibilities
Operate Council machinery for road construction and maintenance, including grader, truck, loader, roller, and small plant
Undertake tasks such as compaction, water binding, spreading materials, and maintaining township and rural roads.
Complete regular maintenance checks and keep accurate logbooks.
Maintain a clean and safe work site, including proper signage and traffic control.
Support general maintenance work, such as vegetation control, kerbing, signage, and stormwater systems.
Assist Parks & Gardens Team when required
The successful applicant must be competent using a mobile phone or Council-issued technology (iPad/tablet or computer) for completing electronic timesheets, communication, pre-start checklists, inspections and other tasks as required.
On-Call Responsibilities
Participation in a rotating on-call roster is required to support emergency and after-hours works (on-call allowances payable). A strong commitment to reliability, safety, and responsiveness is essential.
