The Catering Dept. is one of Sydney’s leading corporate, entertainment, and festival catering companies, known for delivering high-volume events with finesse and precision. We specialise in daily delivery catering, local and interstate music festivals, and government and university contracts. This is a fast-paced and growing operation with a six-person office team and an operations crew of 5–10, depending on the season.

We are currently seeking a Senior Operations & Warehouse Manager to lead our logistics, warehouse, staffing, and equipment functions across multiple service streams. This role works closely with our executive team and plays a critical part in shaping and executing our operational strategy.
The Role
You’ll be the backbone of our day-to-day logistics, ensuring everything from staffing to stock control runs like clockwork. This is a leadership role that requires foresight, discipline, and a get-it-done attitude. If you’re working on something for tomorrow—you’re already late.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations across warehouse and logistics
Manage inventory of catering equipment, packaging and beverage stock
Hire, train, and motivate operational staff
Monitor labour budgets and track operational wage costs
Maintain and coordinate repairs for all FOH and BOH equipment
Create detailed packing lists and event-specific run sheets
Build and maintain systems, SOPs, and logistics tools
Ensure site setups and dispatches are seamless and on-time
Support scaling during busy periods and troubleshoot live issues
Liaise with the executive team on strategy, reporting, and continuous improvement
About You
You are a spreadsheet geek, the master of spreadsheets, and love to create, share, and update them to keep everything on track
You thrive on being highly organised and leading a team to ensure our systems and processes are fine-tuned to handle frequent last-minute client updates and changes
Extremely deadline-driven and solutions focused
Confident managing people, stock, and complex timelines
Calm under pressure and able to work autonomously
Essential Experience:
Minimum 3 years in a senior operations role in a large venue, warehouse, or hotel
Prior experience in offsite catering or event logistics highly preferred — must understand vehicle routing, tight timelines, and remote site setups
Proficiency with the Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Gmail)
Experience with staff scheduling software like Connect Teams, Deputy, or similar
Comfortable managing teams through WhatsApp or live communication apps
Familiarity with catering/event software such as Flex Catering, FoodStorm, or equivalent
A background in kitchen operations or chefing will be highly regarded and considered a strong advantage
Salary & Perks
Base salary: $85,000 – $100,000 + super (depending on experience)
Performance bonus: $10,000 – $15,000 p.a. based on KPIs and contribution to business growth
OTE (On-Target Earnings): Up to $130, 000 p.a.
Monthly contribution to mobile phone expenses & company laptop
Free daily staff lunch onsite
Off-street parking available
All reasonable additional hours are paid as overtime
Some Saturdays/Sundays required (3–4 times annually, with time in lieu)
Must be available to work on New Year’s Eve and Australia Day
No annual leave to be taken in the months of May–July, September, or November
Flexible hours based on workload and event schedule (typically Mon–Fri, 9am–6pm)
