Roper Gulf Regional Council is looking for a dedicated Human Resources Advisor to join our team and help deliver high-quality, people-focused HR services across our diverse and vibrant regional workforce. About the Role
As our Human Resources Advisor, you'll work closely with the Manager of Human Resources to deliver effective, practical HR support across all Council departments. This is a hands-on generalist role where you'll contribute to policy development, workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, and HR systems management.
This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional looking to make a difference, influence organisational improvement, and work within a culturally rich and community-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide accurate HR advice to staff and managers across Council departments
Interpret industrial awards, Fair Work legislation, and Council policies
Review and advise on HR policies, procedures, and position descriptions
Support the implementation of performance management and recruitment processes
Maintain HR information systems and ensure data integrity
Contribute to continuous improvement and organisational change initiatives
Promote Council values and ensure compliance with WHS standards
What We're Looking For
Diploma in Human Resource Management or at least 3 years’ experience in an HR generalist role
Strong knowledge of the Fair Work Act, NES, and contemporary HR practices
Proven ability to advise on awards, employment law, and Council procedures
High-level communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work independently and collaboratively in a small team
Understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures
Salary & Benefits
Base Salary: $86,864 – $95,537 per annum (depending on experience)
Leave Entitlements: 6 weeks annual leave + 10 days personal/sick leave
