The MJD Foundation (MJDF) provides flexible and culturally responsive care based on a strong foundation of enduring relationships. We are currently recruiting for a Human Resources Advisor to join our team in Darwin on a flexible part-time basis for 24 to 30 hours/week.
The Position
In this stand-alone role you are responsible for providing advice and support in the management of the MJD Foundation’s Human Resources. You will report directly to the CEO and have the freedom to take on initiatives and implement changes to support the organisation.
As the HR Advisor you’ll partner with management and staff across the MJDF to embed people-focused initiatives, support day-to-day HR operations, and drive positive change. This role blends strategic people partnering with hands-on management, coordination of systems, employee lifecycle processes and HR administration.

Essential Selection Criteria:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management or proven extensive experience in a similar role.
Experience as an HR Advisor (or ready to step up) with strong client partnership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Sound problem-solving ability, confident navigating Awards and EBAs, and the ability to manage sensitive people issues with professionalism.
Skilled in juggling priorities: you are organised and tech-savvy (HRIS/Microsoft Office/ GenAI).
Intrinsic motivation: you will be a driven professional who can work autonomously and enjoys initiating and driving HR projects/improvements.
Collaborative, adaptable, and values-driven—someone who brings empathy, initiative, a learning mindset, and a flexible, can-do attitude to the team.
Strong judgement, attention to detail, and a focus on outcomes: you’re highly organised, customer-focused, and always ready to pitch in where needed.
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities and cultures from an historical and contemporary perspective.
The ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and in accordance with community protocols and customs.
Desirable:
You ideally have experience in Health, NDIS, NFP or similar sectors.
Mediation skills, experience, qualifications.
A sound understanding of the challenges of staff recruitment & retention in the NT.
Experience and understanding of the challenges of remote service delivery.
