Job Title: Systems Administrator/Support Analyst

JOB SUMMARY:
The Systems Administrator / Support Analyst is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of IT systems and infrastructure. In addition to systems management, this role includes user-facing support responsibilities, assisting staff and partners by providing technical support and resolving IT-related issues. The administrator supports innovation and continuous improvement through system automation and ongoing development. This position ensures secure and efficient computing environments aligned with the organisation’s standards and operational needs. You must be service-oriented, possess clear communication skills, and be adept at resolving user issues efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. System Administration

Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and hardware.

Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability.

Manage regular backups, disaster recovery procedures, and failover protocols.

2. Network Administration

Administer and maintain LAN/WAN, wireless networks, and telephony systems.

Monitor network performance metrics including availability, utilisation, and latency.

Configure and manage network security devices and access policies.

3. Technical Support

Provide Level 1 and 2 support to troubleshoot and resolve IT issues.

Serve as the primary point of contact for internal users and external vendors.

Collaborate with third-party providers for issue resolution and escalations.

Support retail store (Australia-wide) and warehouse (St Mary’s and Auckland) infrastructure remotely and on-site if required.

4. Infrastructure Development

Develop and document standard installation and configuration procedures.

Contribute to infrastructure standards and best practices.

Research and implement automated or efficient approaches to system administration.

5. Security Management

Enforce organisational security policies and procedures.

Conduct regular audits and vulnerability assessments.

Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.

6. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain up-to-date system and process documentation.

Document configuration changes and incident responses.

Generate reports on system health, performance, and security.

TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT:

Operating Systems & Services

Microsoft Windows 10, 11, Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WSUS

Microsoft 365 suite and cloud services

Microsoft Azure and PowerShell scripting are a plus.

Network & Telephony

WAN/LAN, wireless networks

Managed services via Enablis and Gamma

Applications & Tools

Zabbix, Synology, SharePoint, Phocas, Barracuda, Freshdesk

Hardware

HP desktops/laptops, POS systems, EFTPOS, Internet radios, HP printers, handheld devices

Security

CrowdStrike endpoint protection, Firewall services (Enablis MSP), CCTV surveillance systems

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related field is required.

Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in systems and network administration.

Proven experience with Microsoft infrastructure, cloud services (especially Microsoft 365), and cybersecurity tools.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Experience in working with managed service providers (MSPs) is advantageous.

Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco) are a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Reports directly to the IT Manager.

Primarily office-based role in a fast-paced environment.

Occasional travel to stores (primarily in NSW) and to warehouses in St Mary’s may be required at short notice or on demand.

Must have a car with a current driving license. (All work travel can be claimed.)

Involves after-hours on-call support for critical issues.

Must be physically capable of lifting and installing IT hardware.
