We are currently seeking a full-time Accountant for our business located in Liverpool.
Position Overview:
The accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions, preparing reports, supporting the organization’s financial operations and assisting with financial analysis. The role is integral to maintaining the company’s financial health and complying with regulations and accounting standards. The accountant will work closely with the accounts team and other departments to ensure all financial operations are conducted in an efficient and timely manner. This position requires an understanding of home care and NDIS-specific financial practices, billing procedures, and cost structures.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assuring all budgetary and accounting policies are aligned with the Aged Care Quality Standards, Guidelines for Home Care Packages and NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits.
· Conducting a thorough investigation of Services Australia and NDIS claims and funding to ensure accuracy and compliance, including Income Tested subsidy adjustments, leave adjustments and all types of supplements for the aged care clients and regular review of accounts to follow up on outstanding claims from aged care & NDIS.
· Preparing and presenting detailed financial reports to the board of directors and key personnel of aged care and NDIS for strategic consideration, and responsible for preparation of QFR (Quarterly Financial Report) and ACFR (Aged Care Financial report) and its submission to the Department of Health and Aged Care.
· Analyzing client's fundings and managing quality services with minimum operating costs for maximum utilization of their HCP funds and NDIS plans to ensure positive cash flow.
· Establishing and maintaining internal controls which includes but not limited to financial controls, internal audit of financial statements, maintaining restricted access to system, standardizing accounting documents and assets protection.
· Taking part in continuous improvement of our accounting software (Xero) with implementation of automated accounting processes and application of additional software to cut paperwork.
· Responsible for streamlining financial procedures and ensuring timely reporting at month's end.
· Locate fraudulent claims for government subsidies or misuse of package funds.
· Aged Care & NDIS industry specific tax planning by creating a proactive tax strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals as well as analysis of current financial position to recommend structuring organization’s operations in a tax -efficient manner.
· Assisting and monitoring the external accountants in preparation and lodgments of Company Tax returns (CTR) and BAS of Inspired Aged Care Services and NSW Disability Care, preparing preliminary reports and summaries which includes but not limited to tax provisions, expense reports, and explaining complex financial data and transactions. Ensuring all deductions are maximized and obligations are met.
· Conducting internal audits by reviewing financial statements, internal controls and compliance with regulatory requirements and giving opinion on the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
· Reviewing profit & loss statements to analyze revenue sources including government funding, daily fee, other income, and calculate operating costs including direct care cost, administrative costs and costs of equipment supplies to identify areas where costs can be reduced without compromising care quality.
· Establishing contact with external financial brokers and lending companies to arrange finances when needed.
· Assessing and recommending investment opportunities in new aged care & NDIS services and equipment and analyzing the associated risks.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including familiarity with Australian Financial Reporting Standards (AASB).
Proficiency in accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft office.
Experience Requirement:
· Minimum 3 years’ experience with a strong understanding of accounting principles and deep knowledge of the aged care and NDIS sector are essential.
