About the Position
An exciting opportunity presents for an experienced and motivated individual to join the City's Contracts and Procurement service unit to assist with the ongoing development of contracting and procurement excellence and capability across the organisation. We are seeking a well organised and energetic individual, preferably with relevant expertise in procurement and contract management.

The position is required to develop collaborative working relationships with service units and establish an effective network of both internal and external stakeholders to support and facilitate the delivery of procurement initiatives and programs. The ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of quickly understanding our varied business needs and communicating meaningfully with stakeholders to influence and inform on desired procurement outcomes.

Key aspects of the position include:

  • Facilitate the request for quotation and public tendering processes to contract award stage in accordance with relevant legislation and City's policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders on procurement and contract management matters, in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and corporate standards.
  • Assess contract management and procurement needs including the identification of more cost effective and efficient procurement systems and business processes.

About You
As a collaborative member of the Contracts & Procurement team and broader Directorate, the position is accountable for engagement and support to relevant stakeholders and customers. As such, applicants are encouraged to apply and must be able to demonstrate through their resume and cover letter that they meet the following capabilities:

  • A customer focused approach and demonstrated experience in building relationships with internal clients, suppliers, contractors and colleagues.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills to interact with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline and/ or significant relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience and understanding of the procurement and contract management lifecycle including procurement planning, sourcing, evaluation, contract award and contractor management; across a diverse range of goods, services and works related procurement.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data and information to provide well in-formed recommendations and guidance to stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team with a flexible positive and collaborative manner and approach.
  • Practical application of procurement and contract management information software systems is also highly desirable.
