About Us
The Outer Eastern Local Learning and Employment Network (OELLEN) is a not-for-profit organization supporting young people across Knox, Maroondah, and Yarra Ranges by improving education, training, and employment outcomes. Funded by the Victorian Government’s Department of Education and Training (DE), OELLEN delivers the School to Work (S2W) program to facilitate valuable industry placements for students undertaking vocational education.
We are governed by a voluntary Board with key representatives from education, industry, and community sectors.
About the School 2 Work Program
The School to Work (S2W) program aims to:
Connect students with meaningful workplace learning experiences (Structured Workplace Learning, School-Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships, Work Experience)
Build strong relationships between schools and local employers
Identify industry needs and secure relevant placements
Maintain and update placement information on the DE statewide portal
Support government priorities to increase access to industry placements for vocational students
This role provides an exciting opportunity to engage with local businesses, schools, and industry leaders to create lasting employment pathways for students.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Employer Engagement Officer will work closely with the S2W team leader and team. Based at the Lilydale office, the position requires travel across Knox, Maroondah, and Yarra Ranges.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and maintain partnerships with employers, schools, and industry stakeholders to secure appropriate WBL placements
· Promote workplace learning opportunities to businesses and improve their understanding of the benefits
· Build and maintain an active database of industry placements via the DE statewide portal
· Assist stakeholders in navigating the DE portal and provide ongoing support
· Collaborate with the LLEN Statewide Network to facilitate access to placements beyond the local area
· Contribute to program evaluation, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
Represent OELLEN at relevant meetings, networks, and industry events
· Assist with reports, newsletters, and communications related to the program
Key Selection Criteria
Experience: Experience in business, career development, education, or a related field, with relevant industry experience
Knowledge: Understanding of applied learning, vocational education, employment pathways, and youth transition challenges
Relationship-Building: Proven ability to engage and negotiate with employers and stakeholders to create placement opportunities
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills, with the ability to problem-solve and maintain credibility
Industry Insights: Understanding of Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) and School-Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships (SBATs), including employer needs and placement challenges
Team & Independent Work: Ability to collaborate effectively within a small team while also working independently to meet objectives
Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), CRM databases, and video conferencing tools (Zoom/Teams)
Essential Requirements
Current Driver’s License and access to a fully insured vehicle

Position Details
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, days negotiable)
Location: Lilydale office with travel across three LGAs
Salary: $39.71 per hour + Superannuation + PLSA
Tools Provided: Laptop & mobile phone
Probationary Period: 3 months Ends: 30th November 2025
