Company Overview:
A leading financial services organisation is seeking experienced cybersecurity professionals to support governance and project assurance across a large portfolio of cloud and security-focused initiatives. This is a 3-6 month contract within a growing cybersecurity team of 30-40 professionals.

About the role :
This is not a hands-on technical or delivery role, but instead focuses on independent assurance-reviewing project scope, validating implementation, and ensuring alignment with security standards and business objectives. You'll be supporting the Head of Cyber during a period of transition and contributing to the oversight of 25+ ongoing security projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide assurance from both governance and technical perspectives.
• Conduct gap analyses across a range of cybersecurity initiatives.
• Review project scopes and validate technical implementations (e.g., MFA).
• Request and assess evidence of delivery to confirm alignment with internal standards.
• Highlight areas for remediation and provide actionable recommendations.
• Contribute to security oversight across both cloud and on-premise environments.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 3-4+ years of experience in cybersecurity, focusing on governance, compliance, and assurance.
• Background in project assurance, validation, or oversight (rather than hands-on delivery).
• Consulting or Big 4 background highly desirable.
• Experience in financial services is essential; insurance or superannuation highly desirable.
• Comfortable working in cloud-heavy environments and performing evidence-based assurance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Familiarity with HCM systems is beneficial.

This is a hybrid 3-4 days in office position.
