As the OSHC Coordinator, you will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality care to primary school aged children at this service. This position reports to the school principal and business manager.
An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An ability to deliver stimulating and fun activities for children in a safe and secure environment.
A previous involvement with, and understanding of, children’s activities.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
The ability to supervise and encourage children to have fun within a safe environment.
The Out of School Hours Care Co-ordinator is directly accountable to the Principal who has staff management responsibilities for all staff employed at the school. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the Out of School Hours Care service complies with all statutory requirements applicable to child care services, and for the implementation of high quality programs.
Responsibilities
The Outside School Hours Care Co-ordinator is responsible for duties including:
Providing high quality care for children attending the service.
Plan and deliver a stimulating and diverse daily Before School Care and After School Care service, providing positive experiences and interactions for all children attending.
To uphold the 'National Quality Framework' and 'National Quality Standards' as per the Service Philosophy, goals, policies and procedures.
Ensuring compliance with all aspects of Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority Regulations and Department of Education and Training licensing requirements.
Running the OSHC service in a manner that ensures the attainment and maintenance of the highest possible quality rating.
Working closely with the school business manager to:
Maintaining accurate records of student and staff attendances at the service.
Communicating with parents about all aspects of the service as it relates to their child.
Demonstrating full awareness of work occupational health and safety issues and procedures, complying with these and taking responsibility for one’s own health and safety and those of staff.
Essential Requirements
Demonstrated capacity to lead, coordinate and manage the delivery of an Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service
Success in establishing and maintaining positive parent and community relationships
Demonstrated skills in working with diverse children
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Ability to work within a team and embrace collaborative learning practices
Capability to develop understanding of child care administration software
Working with Children Check (WWCC) or current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration
Completed or working towards a Diploma/Advanced Diploma of Children Services/Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care, Primary Education or equivalent.
Senior First Aid training as prescribed in the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 or willingness to obtain one
Food Handling Licence or willingness to obtain one.
Having or be willing to apply for a PRODA.
Desirable
Anaphylaxis and Asthma management training as prescribed in the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010
Previous experience working in a leadership role in a OSHC or childcare setting.
Driver’s Licence.

SC4 Possess the technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position.
SC5 Demonstrated capacity to provide advice and support to management and other school staff in respect to the work area.
SC6 A commitment to professional learning and growth for both self and others.
Conditions of Employment
We are open to flexible work hours.
The successful candidate may be required to work during the school holidays.
OSHC hours are 6:45am - 8:45am and 3:15pm – 6:00pm on weekdays.
We allow time for set up and paperwork in regular hours. Hours of work can be negotiated with the successful applicant.
The successful candidate will be eligible to claim time in lieu (TIL) where they are required to work in excess of their normal hours of duty.
The OSHC Service will close between the last day of school and the New Year. Assistants will not be required to work during this period.
