Why MXstore?

We are a team of fun and fast-paced people who love pushing boundaries and building value in the industries we play in. We are driven by a passion for e-commerce and for people, especially the customers and team members who keep us going. Our approach to business (and life!) is underpinned by a tried and tested set of core values that permeate everything we do:

Be a good human - Good humans are genuine, they care about people and they have a positive impact on the team. We choose to be them and to work with them!

Foot forward first - Anyone can step up and lead the way to keep us moving forward. With a relatively ‘flat’ structure we need people who are excited to do the job that needs to be done.

Kaizen - It’s Japanese for ‘Continuous Improvement’. We continually iterate and adapt by seeking out feedback, challenging the status quo and asking ‘why not?’.

Embrace growth and change - We see change as motivating, necessary and a reason to build new capabilities. Challenges and setbacks become learning opportunities when you have a growth mindset!

Communicate with equality and empathy - We are all equal as human beings, so listen with an empathetic ear and speak with kindness. That’s what a good human would do.

You can probably tell from our core values that we have a unique approach to how we work and are not your typical corporate thinkers, so you’ll need to be adaptable, collaborative and willing to challenge the status quo.

We are currently looking for someone with experience in Payroll and in Accounts to join our Finance Team- you could say this is a blended role!

You’ll be responsible for the accurate and efficient processing of weekly wages for our 140 hard-working team members. This is a great opportunity for a meticulous payroll professional to bring technical expertise and ownership to our payroll function which will take up to 2 days a week. You will work closely with our People team assisting in admin tasks including onboarding/offboarding staff and managing staff employment changes.

The remainder of your week will be in Accounts Payable. Our team does not enter the majority of our invoices which means we get to concentrate on supplier reconciliations, supplier payments and general ledger reconciliations.

You will be responsible for:

Payroll

Processing weekly pay runs in preparation for payroll payments

Updating payroll records for existing employees as well as new starters and terminations through Deputy, Employment Hero and BambooHR

Preparing all state and federal tax obligations - including PAYG tax, payroll tax, superannuation contributions, workers compensation

Providing advice and consultation to employees/team leaders in relation to pay issues, award changes, new policies. You will be the first point of contact!

Complete weekly payroll journals and reconciliations

Assisting our People team with admin tasks such as contracts, variations, onboarding and offboarding new staff, general paperwork, and other such admin that may arise

Accounts

We use NetSuite so experience in that software would be ideal but any major account system will suffice

Entering invoices and credit notes

Creating payment runs and ABA bank files

Understanding supplier statements and experience in reconciling statements to GL

GL account reconciliations

Ability to investigate issues, chase down variances and not settle for close enough is good enough.

Your skills and experience include:

Solid experience in a full function payroll role and ideally in a retail environment. Knowledge of the General Retail Industry Award would be ideal

A broad and comprehensive knowledge of modern awards, state legislation and the ability to interpret award legislation.

Experience administering and using payroll and associated systems. We use Deputy, Employment Hero and BambooHR

Experience in People & Culture Admin

A willingness and desire to keep abreast of changes in award legislation and the ability to know where to research and go looking for information

You must be meticulous in your work with a high degree of attention to detail

You are respectful to the discretion and confidentiality required to work in payroll

Interpersonal skills that reflect your ability to naturally build rapport with your colleagues and peers. This includes the ability to address discrepancies or issues impacting employee pay or team with the person

Strong excel skills required for supplier statement reconciliations

NetSuite or similar accounting software

This is an autonomous role, supported by our Finance Manager and working closely with the People Team and other Team Leaders from across the business. We are seeking an individual who is committed to a long-term, stable position with our company. This role is based in our Burleigh Heads office Monday-Friday with the opportunity for some working from home days.

The perks

This is an amazing opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-growing business, where you'll be surrounded by positive people who love to learn and do things differently. You'll enjoy real growth and development opportunities, flexible working options, an epic HQ in Burleigh Heads and a fun, social work environment.

We offer quality coffee and pantry goodies, team social events and ride days, discounted memberships at local gyms, and a sports incentive program for the competitive athletes among us! We also offer an Employee Assistance Program that provides our team members with coaching and counseling to support their wellbeing.

Our team member engagement surveys…

According to our employee engagement surveys, the top five things that our employees love about working here are the culture, atmosphere, coworkers, sense of community, and the physical work environment.
