Elf Farm Supplies are a world-leading producer of premium Mushroom Compost. You will be joining a wholly owned Australian company established in 1981 that has grown to be the largest agricultural enterprise in the Hawkesbury, as well as being the largest composting facility in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Business is gearing up for growth and in readiness we are expanding our Management Team. We are seeking an experience Production Manager with a Horticulture / Agriculture background.

The Role

Reporting into the Senior Operational Streams, this leadership role manages the day-to-day operations of the compost production teams, ensuring departmental Safety, Quality and Process Performance is upheld, producing a consistent, reliable and high performing product.

Your responsibilities include promoting high production standards, whilst motivating the team to ensure it meets all Safety, Quality and Reliability requirements.

Leader and driving of departmental efficiencies and optimisation targets.

Managing a Production Team of 10-15 personnel, inclusive of Team Leader and Casual contractors.

Administration of weekly rosters, raw materials, consumable replenishment and maintaining of Team training and development matrix.

Monitoring of Tunnel control programmes and process equipment ensuring timely response to system alarms or trouble shooting requirements.

The Responsibilities

Leading and driving departmental workplace safety and compliance initiative

Day-to-Day Management of departmental teams, including, training and development scheduling and rostering. inclusive of temps and OS workers.

Initiating, modifying, training and validation of Departmental SOPs in relation to machine operation and phase processes.

Ensuring all quality steps and inspections are carried correctly.

Management of Tunnel controls, monitoring and checks.

Managing Production and Customer ship out activities in coordination with Customer schedules.

Execution of weekly/monthly goals in collaboration with Managements direction

Working with external (domestic and international) specialist, agriculture technologist and consultants to better the process.

Managing of departmental Inventory and consumables.

Active contributor into the HARPS and HACCP Teams.

What we are looking for in a Candidate

Tertiary qualification in agronomy, horticulture, agriculture or plant science, is preferred and highly desirable. (Farming / Nursery /Ag Background).

Minimum of 3 years proven experience in a Production Management or larger Production Supervisory roles, preferable from within the industry.

Strong People Management experience, adaptive in style with the ability to coordinate teams reactive to customer demands.

Strong understanding of WHS Industry standards and preferably formal training in WHS disciplines

Previous experience in the Mushroom or Composting industry or in a similar large agricultural / farming operation is highly desirable.

Strong Mechanical aptitude, inquisitive and curious by nature.

· Ability to work in a paced environment, comfortable with changing priorities with a clear understanding that time efficiencies are a constant focus.

· Excellent communication skills, motivating, approachable and understanding to departmental needs.

Open to flexible work arrangements, including rostered public holidays, rostered on-call duties and weekends as required.
