We are currently working with a leading commercial construction company known for delivering complex fit-out, refurbishment, and structural upgrade projects across Sydney. They’re seeking an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team on a contract basis to support a busy pipeline of structural refurbishment and major building upgrade projects.

You’ll work closely with the Pre-Construction Manager and Project Directors, taking responsibility for end-to-end estimating functions. The role involves preparing accurate and detailed cost plans, compiling tender submissions, and liaising with subcontractors to ensure competitive and compliant pricing.
Projects typically range from $5M–$20M and often involve structural strengthening, building extensions, façade remediation, and complex refurbishments in live environments such as universities, hospitals, and heritage buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, take-offs, and tender submissions using CostX and Cubit
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and evaluate pricing
• Work collaboratively with project managers and engineers to ensure cost accuracy and constructability
• Participate in value engineering exercises and provide cost-saving recommendations
• Maintain and update cost databases, unit rates, and benchmarking information

About You:

• Proven experience as an Estimator within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 commercial builder
• Strong background in structural refurbishment, remedial, or upgrade projects (not just fit-out)
• Proficient in CostX and Cubit – both are essential
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work autonomously within a busy pre-construction team
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
