Horticulturalist – Royal Botanic Gardens, Mount Annan
- Location: Mount Annan
- Pay Rate: $40.05 per hour + super
- Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
- Start Date: 1 November 2025 | End Date: 1 January 2026
About the Role
Join the dedicated team at the Royal Botanic Gardens Mount Annan and contribute to the care and development of one of NSW’s most important horticultural collections. This hands-on role involves maintaining and curating a wide variety of plant collections, ensuring high standards of presentation, health, and conservation.
You’ll assist with implementing horticultural programs, support apprentices and contractors, and ensure all work aligns with current industry best practices and the Botanic Gardens of Sydney’s (BGoS) policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake horticultural development and curation of plant collections.
- Implement maintenance programs for efficient and effective service delivery.
- Assist with supervising apprentices and contractors.
- Maintain accurate plant records using systems such as Emu and GIS.
- Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and quality standards.
- Liaise with other sections on new collections and display development.
About You
You’re a passionate and skilled horticulturalist with a love for plant care, presentation, and conservation. You bring practical experience, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset to every project.
Essential Criteria:
- Certificate III in Horticulture or Parks & Gardens (or equivalent).
- Experience with pest/disease management, weed control, plant nutrition, and irrigation systems.
- Current driver’s licence and ability to undertake fieldwork and manual tasks (lifting 15kg+).
- Willingness to work outside normal hours or weekends when required.
