The Role

Are you ready to be part of a cutting-edge Defence capability? The GWEO Systems Division is seeking a highly motivated APS 6 Logistics Officer to contribute to a dynamic new initiative and support the sustainment of existing capabilities within the GWEO Air Branch.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of advanced capabilities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in shaping logistics strategies, supporting acquisition and sustainment activities, and ensuring operational readiness across the project lifecycle.

As an APS 6 Logistics Officer, you will:

  • Lead and contribute to the development of logistics and materiel support strategies for acquisition and sustainment.
  • Plan, forecast and manage inventory and materiel logistics activities aligned with Defence policy and project objectives.
  • Develop and implement logistics procedures, and processes to support capability delivery.
  • Prepare high-level documentation including briefs, reports, and performance reviews.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice on logistics matters, including compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks.
  • Support strategic planning, project management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead or coach a team, managing workflows and contributing to team capability development.

About our Team

GWEO is the newest Group in Defence and we are growing a team of dedicated employees performing activities such as requirements setting; contracting; procurement; international logistics; domestic manufacturing; item management and maintenance, and co-ordination of disposal.

GWEO Systems Division is responsible for the GWEO capability life cycle. This includes the acquisition, sustainment and disposal of all guided weapons and explosive ordnance for Defence.

The division is also responsible for:

  • Maintenance of explosive ordnance.
  • Developing the Australian Defence Force Weapons Capability Roadmap.
  • Overseeing the remediation of GWEO preparedness.
  • Enabling capability elements.

Our team is made up of various disciplines (including engineering, project management, commercial, logistics, and business enabling services). We are located in several locations across ACT, NSW, VIC and QLD and our focus is to acquire and sustain guided weapons and munitions for the Australian Defence Force.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong experience in logistics or integrated logistics support (ILS), ideally within Defence or a similar environment.
  • Proven ability to manage complex logistics tasks and contribute to strategic outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Initiative, judgement, and the ability to work independently under broad direction.
  • A commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement logistics strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in inventory management systems, supply chain operations, and performance reporting.
