Now, we’re on the hunt for a talented and enthusiastic Sous-Chef to join our dynamic team

About the Role:

As our Sous-Chef, you’ll work closely with the Head Chef to lead a kitchen that thrives on energy, creativity, and teamwork. You’ll play a key role in maintaining high standards, ensuring consistency, and contributing your passion for Italian flavours to our menu.

Key Responsibilities:

Kitchen Operations

· Manage the daily operations of the kitchen under the guidance of the Head Chef

· Responsible for scheduling and rostering in consultation with Head Chef

Menu Development and Innovation

· Create creative and innovative menus and function packages in collaboration with the Head Chef

· Stay responsive to changes in food styles and market-driven service trends.

Food Quality and Standards

· Prepare and create menu items in accordance with impeccable restaurant standards

· Monitor and ensure consistent quality of all menu items prepared and cooked in the kitchen

· Ensure food preparation, presentation, and cooking techniques meet restaurant standards.

Hygiene and Safety

· Maintain and enforce the highest standards of kitchen hygiene and cleanliness.

· Notify management of any issues affecting the safe performance of tasks.

· Report health or safety hazards, incidents, or accidents immediately and participate in follow-up actions.

Cost Management and Purchasing/ Inventory and Stock Control

· Costing all menu items prior to introducing new dishes in consultation with Head Chef

· Help maintain food costs at budgeted levels through proper preparation, service, and storage.

· Manage daily food requirements, including purchasing with attention to delivery times, shelf life, and storage capacity.

· Track and record inventory across all sections of the kitchen

· Handle ordering responsibilities in the absence of the Head Chef

Team Leadership and Training

· Train new and existing kitchen staff on the preparation, arrangement, and plating of dishes according to the menu

· Ensure all kitchen staff are aligned with the restaurant's vision and objectives

· Foster a positive and trusting team environment that aligns with restaurant goals

This structured approach to responsibilities highlights your leadership role in maintaining kitchen efficiency, delivering high-quality cuisine, and fostering a professional and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience Requirements:

· Associate Degree, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in commercial cookery, hospitality management or similar, or at least three years of relevant experience in lieu of formal qualifications

· At least one (1) year of work experience as a Chef (or a similar relevant role) in high-paced restaurants

· A deep passion for Italian cuisine and a strong understanding of its techniques and ingredients.

· A true team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.

· Proven ability to manage and motivate kitchen staff.

· A focus on quality, attention to detail, and maintaining impeccable standards.
