Kentish and Latrobe Councils are seeking an engaging Volunteer Support Officer to join our team. This is a shared position between two Councils, offering diverse experiences and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across both municipalities.
In this part-time role (working 30 hours per week), you will work to enable safe, inclusive, and meaningful volunteer participation across the Kentish and Latrobe Councils. The successful applicant will have a Certificate III in a relevant field (e.g., community services, HR, or volunteer management) with at least three years’ experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of skills and experience. You will hold a current driver’s licence, a Working with Vulnerable Persons check, and First Aid certification or a commitment to obtain. You will have experience in volunteer coordination, community development, or program administration, with strong knowledge of compliance, risk management, and relevant legislation, including WHS, child safety, and privacy obligations.
This position may require after-hours and weekend work occasionally.
About Us
The Latrobe and Kentish Councils are located adjacent to each other in the north-west of Tasmania and cover an area from the coastal beaches of Port Sorell to the highland regions of Mount Roland and Cradle Mountain.
Latrobe and Kentish Councils value collaboration and partnerships both within and outside their municipalities. As part of their business model, the Councils have entered into a resource-sharing arrangement. This allows both Councils to deliver services and outcomes for their respective communities to gain benefits that may have been otherwise unattainable.
Since the inception of the resource sharing arrangements in 2010, the number of resources shared has steadily grown and the two Councils now operate as one organisation with each Council retaining their respective elected representatives.
