The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, halfway between Bunbury and Busselton. We are nestled between the beach and the forest and are one of the fastest growing coastal Shires in Australia. As the Events Officer in our team, you will work to develop, coordinate and deliver the Shire of Capel’s event calendar, while fostering community participation and capacity building to enhance the sustainability of community groups and events. You will coordinate the Shire’s marquee events, engaging contractors, suppliers and entertainers and ensuring effective risk management of these events. You will seek and manage funding to support the delivery of festivals and events, including grant funding and partnership opportunities, and will manage the budget for the events portfolio.
You will use your highly developed interpersonal skills to influence and build trust with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating a polite, open, honest and fair approach. Your exceptional organisational skills will ensure you maintain a high quality of work while working to deadlines and showing resilience under pressure. You will also have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required, to ensure the successful delivery of events.

• Base annual salary $78,865 pro-rata per annum dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications
• Annual leave loading of 17.5%

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:
• Behaviour that positively demonstrates the Shire’s HEART of: Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork
• Demonstrated experience in an events role, or similar.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, including effective negotiation and facilitation, and strong written and verbal communication.
• Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of independence and autonomy, whilst also being able to work as part of a team.
• Proven track record in sourcing and managing funding.
• Creativity and the ability to develop event concepts, themes and creative ideas that align with the Shire’s Strategic Plans.
Familiarity with the Shire of Capel and Southwest region, a working knowledge of the role, services and structure of local government and awareness of Access and Inclusion principles and issues will be highly regarded.
