Media Officer

APS Level 4

All Bureau capital city office locations will be considered.

Non-ongoing – 30 June 2026

Position Overview

We are Australia's most trusted source of weather, climate, water, ocean and space weather knowledge. As one of the few organisations that touches the lives of all Australians and all of Australia, we have a responsibility to provide accurate and timely information.

We do this through our national media service. Operating like a newsroom, we are content creators providing information through the media and social media channels. We are proactive storytellers sharing the human story behind the weather, seeking to tell the stories of our staff, customers and the community. We also respond to the story of the day, keeping the community informed when it matters most.

Your will alternate between focusing on the reactive news of the day or the long-term proactive storytelling, ensuring each function gets dedicated attention. You will support the team in developing proactive, long-term media projects and managing daily media enquiries. You will help create content and publish to our social media channels and monitor its impact. You will be at the centre of our team, supporting efficient and effective operation of our high-profile media service.

Due to the nature of the work, this position is designated as a shift working role and as such the occupant in the position is required to perform duties based on the shift working roster; morning and afternoon shifts, weekends, and designated public holidays. In recognition of these shift working hours penalties are provided.

Application Closing Date: Tuesday, 04 November 2025
