About the role:

The City of Belmont is seeking a motivated and ambitious planner to join our Planning Department. As a Planning Officer, you will gain hands-on experience across a diverse range of planning matters, undertaking a range of responsibilities and tasks necessary for the effective operation of the Planning Department.

You will be responsible for assessing and reporting on development and subdivision applications, preparing amendments to the Local Planning Scheme and conducting research on town planning matters.

You will liaise with stakeholders including the public, consultants and developers, respond to enquiries and complaints and draft correspondence and reports. The role also involves representing the City before the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT), presenting planning concepts in public forums. There is also the opportunity to assist with project work such as structure plans, policies, strategies and guidelines.

About you:

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about shaping communities and ready to contribute to a dynamic planning team. You could be:

A recent or upcoming graduate with a relevant planning degree, or

An experienced planner looking for a fresh opportunity in a supportive local government setting.
