Position Overview
The Kimberley Supports Project Officer will play a vital role within the Kimberley Supports unit based in Broome, specifically focusing on the Individual Capacity Building (ICB) Program. This program is designed to support Aboriginal individuals living with disabilities in remote communities by promoting their rights, building skills, and fostering community connections.
Under the guidance of the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer will assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating program activities. This includes engaging with community members, organising workshops, facilitating peer support groups, and leading awareness campaigns—all while ensuring cultural safety and responsiveness to community needs.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of professional experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Aboriginal communities, particularly those living with disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in program or project support roles, preferably in community-based services.
- Strong understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people with disabilities and their communities.
- Ability to foster respectful and culturally safe relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the capacity to maintain accurate records and reporting.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and general IT systems, with strong communication skills.
- Willingness to travel within the Kimberley region, including remote communities.
- Current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain.

Salary & Benefits
The salary for this position is $76,101, with additional benefits that include
- Accommodation Allowance of $7,800 p.a. pro rata
- Annual leave of 5 weeks p.a. pro rata
- District Allowance of $2,920 (single) or $5,840 (double)
- Electricity Allowance of $1,440 p.a. pro rata
- Annual Airfare of $1,285 p.a. pro rata, and
- Salary packaging options up to $30,000 per annum

KAMSC (Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Council) is a regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS), providing a collective voice for a network of member ACCHS from towns and remote communities across the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) was the first Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) established in the Kimberley in 1978, and was followed by the East Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service (EKAMS, in Kununurra) in 1984. The vision for a unified voice, to provide centralised resources and collective advocacy for the sector, achieved reality in 1986 with the establishment of KAMSC.
