The Role
This newly created role will help drive future commercial decisions, support and guide the ELT on business-critical commercial activities whilst driving robust insight and rigour around large capital projects by creating and owning long range statistical modelling, M&A support, business-case development as well as capital assessments and stakeholder management? By uplifting financial and commercial awareness you will guarantee your success in this role.

Key deliverables within the first 2 years;

Financial/ Economic Modelling:

Develop and maintain demand models for customers, incorporating historical patterns, seasonal variations, climate impacts, customer growth forecasts, and external market influences.

Lead the development and enhancement of forecasting tools and dashboards, ensuring they remain fit-for-purpose and aligned with best practice.

Pricing:

Manage the end-to-end pricing model, incorporating both fixed and variable charges. Run scenarios & sensitivity analysis to support ELT & board decisions

Maintain and update the pricing model to reflect annual requirements such as indexation adjustments, capital write-ins, asset base updates, and changes in demand profiles or regulatory frameworks.

Lead the process to conduct annual true-ups to reconcile forecasted versus actual revenue recovery, ensuring alignment with internal cost recovery mechanisms.

Asset Valuations:

Provide expert advice and guidance to the Finance Team to support the valuation of non-current assets by maintaining the discounted cash flow model used for forecasting future cash flows for the valuation of Cash Generating Units. This includes impairment models & any statutory requirements

Commercial Projects:

Lead the assessment of commercial feasibility for capital projects, including break-even, net present value, and options analysis. Collaborate to develop 5-year capital investment program with models to support

Run scenario modelling to advise on optimising the capital investment program and ensuring the most beneficial projects are prioritised.

Reporting:

Contribute to the development of the Board Finance Report, providing clear analysis of commercial performance, as well as key opportunities and threats for consideration by senior personnel. Develop dashboards & KPI’s for management

About You
Ideally, you are CA/CFA/CPA qualified with at least 5 years of experience in a commercial role within a complex operational business. Your advanced technical skills including financial modelling (Excel), business case development, market analysis, data/statistical analysis, data visualization, and outstanding stakeholder engagement skills with make you the ideal candidate.

You will thrive on underpinning strategic initiatives, are curious, forward-thinking, and always looking for ways to progress and bring stakeholders along on the journey.
